10th Annual Washington, DC Week for the Animals Celebration May 26-June 3, 2018 Proclaimed by Mayor Muriel Bowser! 


The dynamic week underscored  community spirit throughout the Washington, DC metro area as the citizens and welfare organizations joined together to help and celebrate the amazing animals.

WASHINGTON -- Animal World USA is pleased to announce that the 10th Annual Washington, DC Week for the Animals was celebrated May 26-June 2, 2016!  DC Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a proclamation during the week! The dynamic week underscored community spirit throughout the Washington, DC metro area as the citizens and welfare organizations joined together on behalf of the amazing animals.This special week celebrates DC animals and the outstanding leaders who are paving a new future on their behalf. This year teh celebration included an emphasis on MLK50 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.

To further add to the excitement, George Washington University Law School hosted the much-anticipated DC Animal Law Night event, featuring an extraordinary panel of leaders, attorneys and advocates addressing current national and metro issues, that will be transformative to all in attendance. Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Caisson Horses and Walter Reed Army Medical Center animal-assisted therapy events will also be spotlighted during the week!

Washington, DC Week for the Animals highlighted humane organizations, shelters, sanctuaries, businesses, students, advocates, community leaders, decision makers and caring citizens in an action-packed, compassionate week of fun-filled activities for the animals and you!

In teh spotlight were a multitude of tail-wagging dog and fun-loving feline pet adoption events, Memorial Day festivals, blessing of the animals, ways to help and adopt retired military K-9's, free and low cost spay/neuter opportunities, low cost micro-chipping, Memorial Day events featuring animals, activities to help/adopt the horses and wellness clinics to help the animals unified teh community.

The calendar featured approximately 75 activities including metro area park events for the animals, a focus on wildlife, pet food/supply donations, veggie events & meetups, volunteer opportunities, a salute to the military and so much more!
